Light the Night is a night for to Remember, Celebrate and Give Hope to patients and families living with leukaemias, lymphomas, myeloma and other related blood cancers. Patients and survivors are welcome to attend the event as our guests and fundraising is not a requirement to participate.
However, we do NOT charge admission to the event and encourage all supporters to raise money towards the Foundation’s Mission to Care and Vision to Cure.
Ask your friends, family and work colleagues to sponsor you online. Receipts are automatically generated and money banked into the Leukaemia Foundation’s bank account.
Each team member is responsible for setting goals and raising funds. Ask work colleagues, friends, neighbours and family members to back your team and support the cause. Teams can also raise funds by holding events. Asking people to donate online is the easiest way.
Team members can collect funds from their supporters and pay it in to the team captain. The team captain hands in the money to the Leukaemia Foundation. The best time to do this before Light the Night. At many events there is an opportunity to hand in your fundraising and beforehand. Check the fact sheet for your event.
No. Families, friends and clubs can create teams.
We encourage companies to make a donation to their team, but it’s not a requirement. Most of the donations will come from individual team members. A great way to support team members is for the company to match every dollar raised by a staff member.

Yes. Make sure it’s flexible enough to let you through narrower parts of the walk and not too heavy for people to carry.
The Light the Night events have wheelchair and pusher access. For the safety of all, no pets, bicycles, skateboards, rollerblades/skates, are allowed in the Light the Night event.
Most walks are less than three kilometres, which takes under an hour to complete at a leisurely pace. No particular level of fitness is required. A shorter walk will be available for those who may not be able to complete the full course.
You collect your balloon from the balloon pick up tent on the night. Please sign up online for express check-in on the night. If you don't sign up before hand you will need to queue at the sign up tent to receive your balloon.
No. The balloons are not helium inflated and are secured to a stick. You can keep your balloon as a commemorative item or recycle in the bins provided on the evening.
Light the Night is held rain or shine. If there is a severe weather warning the walk will be cancelled.
Check with your local Light the Night coordinator what refreshments will be available at your walk location.
Light the Night is also the name of a benefit concert held in Sydney each October to raise money for leukaemia research.
Now in its sixth year, the concert has raised in excess of $220,000 for leukaemia research.
In previous years some of Australia's most talented artists including Human Nature, Tim Campbell, Anthony Callea, Lior, Katie Noonan and Emma Pask, to name a few, have performed - this year's cast will be no exception. For an up to date list of performers visit the concert’s website at www.lightthenight.com.au
