Attend an event

Light the Night events are taking place in each capital city on September 19th 2012.  Even more events are organised in smaller communities across the country.

Come together with friends, families and work colleagues to shine lanterns of love, life or hope to support people with leukaemia, lymphoma and myeloma.

Your lantern has a special meaning:

• Shine a Gold 'Love Light' to remember a loved one
• Shine a White 'Life Light' to reflect on your life with blood cancer
• Shine a Blue 'Hope Light' to give hope and support

As night falls and the lanterns glow more brightly, you will hear inspiring stories as the special moment arrives; a gentle walk to Light the Night.

1. Register online

If your event is on tonight there's no need to register at the last minute.  Just bring your family and friends along and pay your registration fee on arrival. If your event is a few days away, register online

Pay your registration fee of $20.  We ask for $20 for every adult who wants to attend and carry a lantern.
 

• Why is there a fee?  It was great to see so many people register last year and raise money beforehand - it was a big fundraising effort from many of our supporters.  However many more people simply turned up on the night and we only received $4 on average from them, which didn't cover the cost of their balloon. 
  This year we have replaced balloons with beautiful new lanterns which you can take home and keep shining through the year.  We are asking for $20 from everyone who wants to come, and to keep it affordable for families, children 12 and under are free.

• You can choose to 'Register Others' and pay their fee at the same time as your own. 
  Otherwise, register as a Team Captain then send an email inviting people to join your team.   When they register they can pay their own registration fee. 

• Even if you're attending on your own, start a team of one for now. 

2. Ask others to join you.

• Ask family, friends and work colleagues to join your team. 
• The easiest way to do this is online – we can provide you with an email to invite them – it contains a link directly to your team to guarantee they join the correct one!

3. Collect donations if you can

• In addition to the registration fee, we want as many people as possible to collect donations and get sponsors to support them. The more we raise the more help we can give.
• By setting a fundraising goal you can help us to raise extra funds to support the Leukaemia Foundation's Vision to Cure and Mission to Care.   We will send you a fundraising kit with tips and tools to make reaching your goal easy.

• At Light the Night events we offer incentives for each team member as they reach these fundraising levels.
  Bright Spark: Raise $250 to receive a Light the Night polo shirt
  Bright Star: Raise $500 to upgrade to an exclusive Light the Night backpack
  Bright Light: Raise $1,000 to be acknowledged as a Bright Light plus choose from our range of Bright Light products.

4. Light the Night

Shine a lantern of love, life or hope at Light the Night.  Your registration fee includes your beautiful lantern which is yours to keep as a reminder of this inspiring night.
